Goodwill Industries of Kentucky is looking for an energetic, self-motivated, detail-oriented Outreach Specialist to join our team! The Outreach Specialist will work closely with individuals seeking assistance from Goodwill to overcome barriers to employment and meet their career goals. We serve Kentuckians who have disabilities or experience other challenges finding success in the workforce, such as criminal backgrounds, language barriers, limited education, lack of transportation and chronic poverty. The Outreach Specialist conducts street outreach to persons who are experiencing homelessness, and/or visible needs, and may be in various community settings including but not limited to street corners and homeless camps within the Louisville Metro district. The focus of this work is to connect participants with the resources and services needed to remove barriers, find housing, maintain long-term employment, and a career path.

Essential Duties and Tasks:
The Another Way Outreach Specialist conducts homeless outreach via van or on foot to identify, engage, and assist unhoused persons who are experiencing homelessness, on the street corner, living on the street, in encampments, abandoned buildings, or other unhoused situations.
Provide outreach service methods to engage with unhoused persons with visible needs and to encourage them to accept short term work.
Provides transportation to and from scheduled work sites, Goodwill Opportunity Center, and original pick-up location.
Plays the lead role in planning, executing, monitoring, and controlling the outreach service with the clients that are participating each day and have the ability to implement discipline when needed (remove participant from worksite).
Conducts assessment to determine service needs and begins navigation process to assist clients with programs and services.
Conducts a warm hand off of participant to career coach and assist with case notes and documentation to include: Another Way Program Participant Intake Form and provided services.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Must have an assertive personality, outstanding oral and written communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a variety of diverse people.
Must be self-motivated with the capacity to consistently work with a high volume of individuals.
Must maintain participant confidentiality and follow the Certified Rehabilitation Counselors’ Code of Ethics.
Must have reliable transportation to and from work and have valid driver’s license and insurance and acceptable driving record.
Education and Experience:
Associate’s degree or one-year of work experience in lieu of college degree in workforce development/social services environments, such as a workforce development program and/or community rehabilitation program, providing services to individuals with disabilities and/or other disadvantages preferred.
Case management experience preferred.
Must demonstrate proficient knowledge of the Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
Physical Demands:
This job may have physical requirements that considered sedentary to light work. Physical demand requirements are more than those for sedentary work. Sedentary work involves sitting for long periods of time; occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, stooping; good finger dexterity and feeling; frequent repetitive motions; talking, hearing, and visual acuity. Light work includes lifting up to 20lbs occasionally and/or up to 10lbs frequently.
Must be able to work in environments where participants are in outdoor locations such as on the street corner, along the street, and homeless camps.
Travel to other locations beyond the assigned work location is often required.
