Job Details
Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Work Setting: Community-based agency.
Responsibilities
Interview clients to obtain employment history, educational background, and career goals.
Supervise other counsellors and support staff.
Identify barriers to employment and assist clients with job readiness skills, job search strategies, writing résumés, and preparing for job interviews.
Perform administrative tasks.
Advise employers on human resource and other employment-related issues.
Administer and interpret tests designed to determine the interests, aptitudes, and abilities of clients.
Collect labour market information for clients regarding job openings, entry and skill requirements, and other occupational information.
Recruit and hire staff.
Provide established workers with information and strategies for dealing with job dissatisfaction, making mid-career changes, and adjusting to workplace transitions.
Provide consulting services to community groups and agencies, businesses, industry, and other organizations involved in providing community-based career planning support or resources.
Train staff.
Project management.
Prepare reports.
Advise job applicants on employment requirements and terms and conditions of employment.
Direct and advise professional and non-professional staff.
Administer the programs of non-governmental organizations involved with social issues.
Establish administrative procedures.
