Life Span empowers survivors of domestic and sexual violence to demand safety as a human right through client-centered services and leads social change through accountability,community engagement, and systemicadvocacy.
Life Span is a nationally known leader in the provision of services to victims of violence and their children. Our comprehensive services include criminal courtadvocacyrepresentation in civil protective order cases, expert representation in family law cases, and counseling for survivors and their children. Our work encompasses issues such as immigration, employment issues, sexual assault civil no contact orders, the effects of trauma on clients and their children, teen dating violence, and the criminalization of survivors.
Our agency has two sites, and services are available in multiple languages including English, Spanish, Polish, Arabic, and Assyrian. All services are free of charge. Life Span provides nationalleadershipin policy work and systemicadvocacy, and our staff has trained advocates, lawyers, judges, counselors, and other professionals in Illinois and across the country on critical issues andinnovativepractices.

Under the supervision of the Director of Counseling, the Outreach,Educationand Training Coordinator will respond to requests for training and presentations; contact schools and other social service providers to make them aware of Life Span’s services; schedule presentations; coordinate with staff to present; and assist in conducting outreach and presentations. The Outreach,Educationand Training Coordinator will increase the knowledge of Life Span services and Gender-Based Violence within the communities Life Span serves.
Responsibilities
Providespreventioneducationto primary, middle, and high schools (public and private), to youth-serving agencies, and to junior and four-year colleges/universities.
Facilitates curriculum for schools, community partners, and other stakeholders.
Facilitates 40-hour domestic violence training for staff and other stakeholders as well as other programs as designated.
Conducts and coordinates community outreach.
Conduct and coordinate client events andeducationopportunities.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field.
40-hour DV Certified is preferred or DV Certification training provided.
Bilingual Spanish language skills at a professional working proficiency is a plus for this position.
Pay scale and benefits
Location and Hours:
The Outreach,Educationand Training Coordinator position is a full-time, 40 hours per week position based in the Des Plaines Life Span office with approximately 30% travel.
Life Span is steps away from the Des Plaines METRA station and accessible via the Blue Line/Pace transit. Des Plaines is a Northwest Chicago suburb. Free parking is available for office building tenants.
