Outreach Coordinator

Reports to: Director of Operations

Job Purpose:

To plan, perform, and maintain community outreach activities connecting the Tupelo Lee Humane Society with its surrounding community. To develop, coordinate, and maintain a strong and efficient volunteer program for the Tupelo Lee Humane Society. To conduct facility tours, promote TLHS at community events and school events through education pertaining to animal welfare. To assist with fundraising efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Recruits, trains, and supervises volunteers.
Maintains a volunteer database tracking volunteer and community service hours.
Schedules volunteer assignments, coordinating with shelter operations and shelter staff while also maintaining a volunteer calendar.
Works with the city’s community service program and schedules community service assignments, coordinating with shelter operations and shelter staff.
Coordinates and conducts facility tours with community groups and individuals.
Develops and coordinates educational presentations in order to educate the community on animal welfare and animal welfare practices.
Serves as a liaison between the Tupelo Lee Humane Society and the Tupelo High School TLHS Club.
Assists with fundraising efforts and events.
Promotes community awareness of shelter activities and events utilizing social media platforms.
Monitors and maintains Paw Partner donor database, producing reports as required.
Write “thank you” cards and “thank you” letters as appropriate.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.
Three or more years of experience with customer service in an office setting.
Clerical experience in an office setting is desired.
Computer experience with Microsoft Office/Google Drive
Good interpersonal skills for interacting with co-workers, the public, and the telephone.
Must be organized and structured.
Must be of good integrity and moral character. Must be responsible in all areas.
Must be willing to work with and handle animals.
Must be able to work in a busy and high paced environment.

Working Conditions:

Typical office setting with desk. Open area near front doors, where people come and go. Will handle and interface with animals (some may be fractious or fearful) as required to perform the job. May include weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to move about in all areas of the facility, handling documents, packages, animals, etc. Must be able to work in a stressful environment with employees, the public, and animals. Must be able to stand and work on your feet, sit, kneel, or crouch for extended periods.

Pay: $12.00 – $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
