Nonprofit Leadership Program

The Borgen Project is an international organization that works at the political level to improve living conditions for people impacted by war, famine and poverty. The Program provides insight into the key skills required to lead and develop a nonprofit organization. It is a part‑time, 12‑hour per week, 12‑week unpaid remote program; you can complete it in fewer weeks if your availability is limited.

Program

Components

  • Advocacy Leadership Development – Meet with members of government in your district; represent the Borgen Project at business, political and community events; mobilize individuals to contact their members of government in support of key poverty‑reduction legislation.
  • Fundraising Development – Learn how to fundraise, create a personal fundraising campaign, and meet targets.
  • Recruitment – Update job postings; inform groups and classes of openings, introduce recruitment platforms, and listen to interview sessions.
  • Marketing and Promotion – Pitch story ideas to print, broadcast and digital media; utilize social media and develop web‑based messaging strategies.

Experience

No prior experience is necessary. We’re looking for people passionate about fighting poverty and righting wrongs, regardless of GPA or background.

Details

This is an unpaid program, although college credit is available.
