Position Overview
The Controller will oversee the organization’s financial operations, reporting, and compliance. This role is ideal for someone with a strong nonprofit accounting background who is passionate about using their financial expertise to support a greater mission.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Ensure compliance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards (FASB, IRS, etc.)
Lead the preparation for annual audits and liaise with external auditors
Manage budget development and variance analysis in collaboration with program and executive staff
Monitor and manage cash flow, grants, and fund accounting
Supervise accounting staff or external vendors as needed
Maintain internal controls and ensure financial procedures are followed
Provide financial reporting to the executive team and board of directors
Assist with grant reporting, compliance tracking, and donor-restricted funds
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a nonprofit organization
