Colorado National Monument Association (CNMA) is seeking a passionate, community-focused leader to serve as our next Executive Director.

About CNMA
CNMA is the official nonprofit partner of Colorado National Monument, working closely with the National Park Service to support educational programming, scientific research, visitor services, and preservation efforts. Through bookstore sales, community engagement, and member support, we help bring the stories of this stunning high desert landscape to life.
CNMA is a proud member of the Confluence Center, a nonprofit hub in Grand Junction dedicated to land and water stewardship, education, and outdoor recreation. The Confluence Center provides office space, access to preschool daycare, meeting space, and opportunities to collaborate with other like-minded non-profits.
About the Role
This is a dynamic role with time split between: Grand Junction/Fruita, Colorado (Confluence Center office, community events, and regional partnerships & outreach) and the Colorado National Monument Visitor Center (bookstore oversight & collaboration with National Park Service Leadership).
As Executive Director, you will lead CNMA’s strategic direction, staff, partnerships, and day-to-day operations. You’ll work closely with CNMA’s Board of Directors and National Park Service leadership, oversee retail operations at the Monument’s Visitor Center, drive fundraising and outreach efforts, and serve as a key connector between the National Monument and the surrounding community.
We’re Looking for Someone Who:
Believes deeply in the value of public lands, education, and stewardship
Has experience in nonprofit leadership, fundraising, and/or program management
Communicates clearly, listens actively, and collaborates well
Understands the basics of nonprofit finance and business operations (especially retail)
Is energized by being hands-on and wearing many hats in a small, impactful organization
Has roots in—or a strong affinity for—the Grand Valley and Western Colorado
Can work flexible hours and must be available for evening or weekend meetings and events to represent CNMA in community
Salaried full-time position with medical, dental and vision insurance.
