Overview
Family & Youth Initiative (DCFYI) helps older children (12 to 21) in foster care find adoptive families and make lifelong connections with caring adults. DCFYI focuses on helping teens at risk of aging out of foster care find adoptive families and develop lasting relationships with other caring adults. We offer opportunities for adults who are not yet approved to adopt or mentor to meet and get to know teens so that relationships can grow naturally before any formal mentor or adoption match is made.
Family and Youth Initiative, Inc. in Washington, D.C. (FYI/DCFYI) welcomes eligible volunteers to serve on our Nominations Committee.
We are seeking volunteers who are interested in helping the committee find potential members for our Board of Directors and its committees. The Board committees provide an opportunity for volunteers to become familiar with Board activities and initiatives and to prepare them for possible Board membership.
Volunteer Opportunity
We are seeking Nominations Committee volunteers who are willing to help maximize the potential for recruiting potential Board and Board committee members and explore new opportunities to help grow DCFYI. The Nominations Committee provides volunteers a great opportunity to support DCFYI and its program participants.
Commitment
Nominations Committee volunteers would commit to serve for at least one year. The committee meets virtually once per month at a mutually convenient date and time determined by the committee members.
