We’re looking for a passionate and community-focused Neighbourhood Ranger to join our Mobile Multi-Functional Team. This is a hands‑on, people-facing role where you’ll work closely with residents, partners and community groups to improve the local environment and promote pride in our public spaces. If you enjoy working outdoors, engaging with people, and making a visible difference in neighbourhoods, this could be the role for you.
Responsibilities
- supporting community‑led projects to improve environmental quality and local spaces
- working directly with residents, volunteers and community groups to deliver improvement initiatives
- assisting with campaigns around environmental cleanliness and awareness
- attending community meetings and events
- engaging with partners to address anti‑social behaviour and environmental crime
- supporting projects such as school gardening clubs and promoting healthy outdoor lifestyles
- helping improve communication between ourselves and local communities
- encouraging safe and responsible use of public green spaces
This role will involve some evening and weekend working to support community engagement.
Requirements
- Experience working with the public in a community-facing role
- Strong communication skills and ability to engage with diverse groups
- Ability to plan, organise and manage your own workload
- A proactive and positive approach to problem‑solving and service improvement
- Minimum of 3 GCSEs (including Maths and English) or equivalent
- A flexible approach, including working outside normal hours when required
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes
- Desirable:
Experience in a ranger, neighbourhood warden or caretaking role - Knowledge of environmental issues such as littering, fly‑tipping, graffiti and anti‑social behaviour
- Understanding of local authority services relating to community safety and public realm
- Relevant training in neighbourhood warden or similar services
Standard DBS check required.
