Recruiting for a VISTA for the University of North Carolina Pembroke (UNCP)! Join the NC Hunger Corps, an AmeriCorps VISTA project sponsored by North Carolina Campus Engagement (NCCE), dedicated to combating food insecurity on and around college campuses. As an NC Hunger Corps VISTA, you’ll serve with a college or community-based organization, supporting food security programs that help students, staff, and community members experiencing food insecurity. These programs may include: 1. Campus/community gardens 2. Food recovery efforts 3. Food pantries & fresh produce distribution. Your role may involve: – Raising awareness about nutrition & healthy eating – Recruiting & training volunteers – Designing & piloting programs, including service days – Building networks & partnerships – Developing systems & resources – Participating in professional development. Ideal candidates have a passion for food security, experience working with students & communities, strong communication skills, and leadership abilities. Experience in college/university service programs is a plus! Recruitment is open for UNCP – Christina can be contacted with questions. Many sites offer housing support such as a monthly housing allowance.
Member Duties : Join the NC Hunger Corps and Fight Food Insecurity in North Carolina! As a NC Hunger Corps Member, you’ll be part of a service cohort supporting food security programs on and around college campuses. You may: 1. Strengthen food pantries, community gardens & recovery programs 2. Recruit, train, or improve volunteer engagement 3. Develop policies & systems to improve program effectiveness 4. Collaborate with students & community leadership in service projects 5. Seek funding through grant-writing & fundraising 6. Lead outreach, communications & awareness events 7. Track program data to measure success. This is a chance to make a real impact, develop leadership skills, and gain hands-on experience in community service and nonprofit work.
