Position Summary:
The Mission and Outreach Director of The Salvation Army Denver Red Shield Corps shall be a person of genuine Christian character, of emotional, mental and physical stamina, and a loyal participant of a ministry team, able to work well and cultivate trust with other people in a growing congregation. This person must always represent The Salvation Army in a positive manner in personal conduct and appearance.
Responsibilities:
Assist the Corps Officers as needed with Corps programs including, but not limited to worship services, Bible studies, Home League, Men’s fellowship, recruiting soldiers and congregation members, transportation, special events, attend Divisional & Territorial programs, assist in the Christmas kettle program, Angel Tree/toy and food distribution, and integrate the mission of The Salvation Army into every program.
Organize and lead mission work in the community includingbuilding relationshipswith local schools, recreational centers, churches, and businesses to meet the needs of the community while spreading the mission of Jesus.
Supervise maintenance/custodial/transportation staff to ensure the building, grounds, and vehicles are clean and properly maintained, and manage staff to maintain the highest performance.
Qualifications,Educationand Work Experience:
Must be a Salvationist in good standing.
High School Diploma or GED with two years related work experience and one year supervisory experience.
Must pass Driver Safety Test and may be required to obtain a valid Class B CDL Colorado driver’s license.
The ability to speak and write the English language with professional level skill is required.
Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
Required:
The ability to use computers with a working knowledge of integrated database applications and the ability to use new software programs with basic training.
Must be a self-starter and a team player, perform well with minimum supervision.
Must possess excellentcommunication skills.
Must be minimally 21 years of age and possess a valid in-state Driver’s License.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to maneuver and remain in a stationary position.
The ability to bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
The ability to grasp, push, pull, and reach overhead.
Capable of lifting 40 pounds or more.
Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
