Scope and

Purpose

of Position

The Ministry Assistant will serve in a critical support role to the Corps Officers and in a leadership role in both Jamestown and Dunkirk. They will be involved in the full ministry of the Corps, including teaching, leading, and preaching the Gospel message; providing spiritual direction and care for congregation members and visitors. The Ministry Assistant will engage in leadership responsibilities and learning opportunities as directed by the Corps Officer, to gain a comprehensive understanding of Corps operations.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Assist the Corps Officer with the development, planning, and implementation of various programs, including social and evangelistic ministries, summer youth ministries, after-school programs, and others.

Assist in promoting, registering, and transporting participants for events and activities.

Transport donations, participants, and others as needed.

Lead or assist in public relations events and campaigns, including fundraising efforts like the Christmas Kettle campaign.

Lead or assist with worship services, Bible studies, fellowship programs, outreach, and evangelism initiatives.

Assist with social service programs and administrative responsibilities, including meetings, donations, and statistics.

Support general daily Corps needs and special projects as assigned.

Participate in training and development related to Corps activities.

Communicate effectively with Corps Officers, staff, volunteers, donors, and community leaders.

Qualifications

Special Skills, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Be a mature Christian, professing Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

Support and adhere to the doctrines, procedures, and policies of The Salvation Army.

Possess a solid theology aligned with The Salvation Army.

Demonstrate strong pulpit ministry and Bible teaching ability.

Be a strong leader within the Corps and community.

Have a heart for evangelism and discipleship.

Provide pastoral counseling as needed.

Work cooperatively with community services and ministries.

Manage reports, budgets, statistics, and paperwork effectively.
