The Microbiologist is a permanent, full-time position with the Alabama Department of Public Health or the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries. This is professional clinical, food quality, or veterinary diagnostic laboratory work.
Overview
May be required to work with highly infectious agents and must agree to receive special immunizations. Employees may be required to work holidays, weekends, and after hours on a rotation basis. Alabama Department of Public Health requires documenttion verifying possession of the degree prior to employment.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accedited four-year college or university in Medical Technology or in a chemical, physical, or biological science including 12 semester or 18 quarter hours of combined course work in microbiology, biochemstry, immunlogy, parasitology, virology, hematology, or related work. A minimum of one course must be in microbiology.
