Summary
The Virginia Public Health Association (VPHA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to improving the health of all Virginians. Founded in 1950, VPHA’s mission is to strengthen public health practice, foster health equity, and promote sound public health policy. It is a proud affiliate of the American Public Health Association.
The Membership & Events Coordinator will assist the VPHA Board of Directors in recruiting and retaining members, planning and executing events, and communicating information with members and public health stakeholders. This role is perfect for someone passionate about public health and nonprofit management and looking to grow their professional network and skills.
Position Status
Non-exempt, salaried; approximately 15 hours per week.

President of the VPHA Board of Directors

Location
This is a remote position with occasional in-person requirements for VPHA’s Annual Conference and other events.
Job Functions
Maintain accurate and up-to-date membership records in VPHA’s membership database.
Process membership registrations and renewals and promptly respond to membership inquiries and requests for assistance.
Ensure members receive all membership benefits.
Generate membership reports and analyze trends to inform recruitment and retention strategies.
Help plan and execute VPHA’s annual public health conference and quarterly membership meetings.
Evaluate event success through feedback surveys and provide recommendations for future improvements.
Create and distribute newsletters, event invitations, and other communications to members and stakeholders.
Manage VPHA’s social media accounts to increase visibility and engagement.
Update and maintain the VPHA website, ensuring timely and accurate information.
Other functions may include general coordination and support as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in public health, nonprofit management, or a related field.
Previous experience in volunteer membership management, event planning, or administrative support, preferably within a nonprofit organization.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, social media platforms, and database management.
Demonstrated ability to work independently with limited supervision.
Passion for public health and commitment to VPHA’s mission.
Must live in Virginia.
Preferred Qualifications
Nonprofit management experience.
Experience with Canva, Wild Apricot, and/or Quickbooks.
