About the Role

We are looking for an experienced association professional who is passionate about creating exceptional member experiences, building strong volunteer partnerships, and bringing people together. As our Member Events and Engagement Manager, events are at the heart of what you will do. You will lead the planning and execution of our full event calendar while also partnering with committee leaders, board members, sponsors, and fellow staff to deliver educational programs, networking opportunities, and signature experiences that strengthen our community and advance ACG Chicago’s mission.

What You Will Own

Events & Programs

o  Lead the planning and execution of approximately 25 to 30 educational programs, networking events, and signature experiences each year, ranging from 75 to 200 attendees, with one flagship annual conference of 800.

o  Develop comprehensive project plans, timelines, and production schedules that ensure every event is delivered successfully.

o  Coordinate venues, catering, audiovisual services, speakers, registration, signage, and onsite logistics, including being hands-on at events and possibly carrying up to 50 lbs of equipment.

o  Develop and manage event budgets, negotiate contracts with venues and vendors, and ensure programs are delivered within approved financial parameters.

o  Conduct site visits and oversee onsite execution to create an exceptional attendee experience.

o  Manage event websites, attendee communications, registration processes, and post-event follow-up.

o  Lead post-event evaluations, analyze attendee data and feedback, and translate findings into actionable improvements that strengthen future programming.

 

Member & Volunteer Engagement

o  Serve as the primary staff liaison for assigned committees and partner closely with volunteer leaders to develop meaningful programs and member experiences.

o  Collaborate with committee chairs to establish annual goals, programming strategies, and event plans that align with ACG Chicago’s strategic priorities.

o  Facilitate committee meetings by preparing agendas, documenting action items, and helping volunteers stay organized, engaged, and accountable.

o  Guide committees from concept through execution, ensuring initiatives remain on schedule and deliver meaningful value for members.

o  Build strong relationships with committee chairs, board members, sponsors, volunteers, and members to strengthen engagement across the organization.

o  Identify opportunities to increase member participation, deepen volunteer involvement, and continuously enhance the member experience.

Qualifications

o  5+ years of demonstrated experience planning and executing a high volume of events.

o  2+ years of experience in association management, nonprofit management, chamber management, or another membership-based organization preferred.

o  Demonstrated experience supporting volunteer committees, boards, or member-led groups.

o  Proven success managing multiple projects, committees, and events simultaneously.

o  Strong project management skills with the ability to balance competing priorities, manage deadlines, and drive initiatives to completion.

o  Strong budgeting, forecasting, and financial management experience.

o  Experience with event management and association technology platforms such as Cvent, Glue Up, Bizzabo, or similar tools. Familiarity with association management systems such as Rhythm or Wild Apricot is a plus.

o  Strong data analysis skills, with the ability to evaluate post-event results, identify trends, and translate findings into actionable improvements.

o  Physical ability to lift and carry event materials and equipment up to 50 lbs.

 

Compensation & Benefits

This is a full-time, hybrid position with a salary range of $80,000 to $110,000, commensurate with experience. A performance bonus is also available annually. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) retirement plan with employer match, life insurance, disability coverage, and a generous paid time off package.

This is a hybrid role based in Chicago. In-office and on-site presence will vary week to week depending on the event calendar and organizational needs, with some weeks requiring 3-4 days and others considerably less. We are looking for someone who embraces this flexibility.
