Position Overview

This position joins the Oregon Health Authority’s statewide Ameri Corps VISTA team. Members participate in activities at their individual sites, as well as receive orientation, training, team meetings, and support from VISTA team leaders and the project director. Lincoln County Emergency Management

Lincoln County Emergency Management serves all residents by preparing for, responding to, and recovering from disasters. The team collaborates with local, state, and federal partners to develop emergency plans, provide public education, and ensure community safety. Special focus is given to supporting vulnerable populations, such as low-income residents, by improving access to resources, shelters, and information during emergencies. Duties

The Ameri Corps member will enhance public health and emergency management systems to serve local populations better. Responsibilities include developing a medically fragile shelter plan, transitioning the Medical Reserve Corps to Public Health, and creating emergency preparedness programs for older adults and individuals with electronic medical devices. Tasks involve needs assessments, plan drafting, training organization, and outreach material creation. Candidates should have experience in research, writing, project management, public health, adaptability, problem-solving, and self-motivation.

Ameri Corps VISTA members serve through indirect service and capacity building, working behind the scenes in professional office settings with limited community interaction. Ideal applicants are independent, motivated, reliable, and possess strong communication skills.
