We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Biller to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing billing processes, ensuring accuracy in coding, and facilitating smooth communication between patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies. This role is crucial in maintaining the financial health of our medical practice while ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
Duties
Accurately process and submit medical billing claims to insurance companies using ICD-10 and ICD-9 coding systems.
Review and verify patient information, including medical records and insurance details, to ensure correct billing.
Utilize medical terminology to interpret physician notes and translate them into appropriate codes for billing purposes.
Manage accounts receivable by following up on unpaid claims and resolving any discrepancies or issues related to billing.
Maintain organized records of all billing transactions, payments received, and outstanding balances.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any questions regarding patient treatment or documentation necessary for accurate billing.
Stay updated on changes in medical coding regulations, including DRG guidelines and compliance standards.
Qualifications
Proven experience in medical billing and coding within a medical office setting is preferred.
Strong understanding of medical terminology, medical records management, and the healthcare reimbursement process.
Familiarity with ICD-10, ICD-9 coding systems, DRG classifications, and medical collections practices.
Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Ability to communicate effectively with patients, healthcare professionals, and insurance representatives.
Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and billing software is a plus.
Certification in medical billing or coding (such as CPC or CCS) is desirable but not mandatory.
