MCVP – MT DPHHS Behavioral Healthcare VISTA Jobs in Montana at AmeriCorps
The goal of this project is to increase access to healthcare for Montanans experiencing substance use disorder or serious mental illness. The state of Montana has a high rate of substance use and mental health concerns. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services administration reports that there is an estimated range of 48,000 to 63,000 adults in Montana who live with Serious Mental Illness. In 2020, the Montana Healthcare Foundation reported that there was a 28% increase in the use of behavioral health services through Medicaid. Montana also has one of the highest substance use disorder rates in the country. The Healing and Ending Addiction through Recovery and Treatment (HEART) Initiative is an effort to broaden the scope of behavioral health services offered to Montanans and addressing gaps in the continuum of care. The VISTA project will move individuals with mental health and substance use disorders out of poverty by strengthening the behavioral health care system resulting in coordination and collaboration on expanding services within the HEART Initiative. Located in Helena MT!
Member Duties : The VISTA will create and implement data processes for gathering information for HEART Waiver Services, in preparation for the quarterly CMS data reporting, utilize findings from data analysis and partnerships to educate stakeholders, and other department entities, and build capacity for coordinated and collaborative HEART Waiver work by increasing support across the Department and public entities.
