Job Summary

The Center for Educational Outreach is seeking college advisers to work with students and families across Michigan. If you are passionate about promoting equal access toeducationand believe in the power of community, we want to hear from you. We are specifically seeking recent graduates for this role. The College Adviser will be based at one of the following schools:

Flint Southwestern Classical Academy, Flint

Jackson High School, Jackson

This program aims to inspire students to explore highereducationopportunities, guide them through university admissions and financial aid processes, and support them in pursuing a college orcareer pathafter graduation. Advisers are required to live near their assigned school and are expected to be present on-site at the designated high school during regular school hours (40 hours a week).

Advisers will also need to be able to transport themselves to Ann Arbor for monthly in-person training.

This position will run from mid-July 2025 to June 30, 2026.Upon completion of the first year, advisers may have the option to extend their commitment for one additional school year, subject to the discretion of the Michigan College Access Corps (MCAC) program.

This is an Ameri Corps position. Advisers will receive:

A $31,200 annual stipend.

An Ameri CorpsEducationAward is awarded upon successful completion of the service term. (Amount to be announced soon)

Responsibilities*

Develop a comprehensive college timeline for each student, including deadlines for admissions and financial aid.

Help students complete and submit admissions, financial aid (FAFSA), and scholarship applications.

Host regular workshops for students and their families to discuss topics such as the college planning timeline, the importance of post-secondaryeducation, financial aid, and other opportunities.

Establish productive working relationships with principals, counselors, teachers, and other staff in the assigned high school.

Work with local community groups or organizations to connect students and families with relevant services, programs, and supports.

Assess the needs of the assigned school and work with the MCAC program director and school personnel to adapt programming to meet these needs.

Perform regular data collection for analysis and evaluation by the adviser and program staff.

Seek advice from the on-site supervisor at the assigned high school to support the long-termsustainabilityof the program.
