Job Description
NewLife Outpatient is seeking a full-time Master’s Level Substance Abuse Counselor to join our growing Pell City team. This position is being added due to continued growth in our outpatient program and provides a great opportunity for a counselor interested in growing professionally in the field of substance use treatment.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related Human Services field required.
- Experience working with individuals with substance use disorders is preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team.
Position Responsibilities
The Master’s Level Substance Abuse Counselor will provide substance use treatment services in accordance with Alabama Department of Mental Health standards. Responsibilities include:
- Conduct substance use assessments.
- Facilitate individual counseling sessions.
- Facilitate group counseling sessions.
- Develop and update individualized treatment plans.
- Monitor client progress toward treatment goals.
- Complete required clinical documentation accurately and timely.
- Coordinate services with other members of the treatment team.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Outpatient Services.
Employment Requirements
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening.
- Must successfully pass a criminal background check.
- Must meet all other employment and credentialing requirements applicable to the position.
