Job Description:
Develops and implements educational programs fordiverseaudiences, including K-12 students, the public, teachers, informal educators, public officials, industry representatives, stakeholders, geoscientists, and water professionals.
Manages participation of employees ineducationand outreach activities. Provides training to ensurecommunicationof quality information and adherence to best practices during outreach events. Provides training to staff for safeguarding minors.
Identifies, promotes, and maintains internal and external partnerships to enhance the impact and effectiveness of outreach programs.
Establishes metrics to assess the effectiveness of educational programs and outreach activities. Ensures measurable success andcontinuous improvementof the programs and activities.
Provides expertise in experiential learning and contributes to the development ofhands-on, interactivelearning opportunities.
Assists in proposal preparation and serves as an expert in grant projects related toeducationand outreach.
Hires, trains, evaluates, and supervises staff and student employees.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Three years’ relevant experience.
Experience managing aneducationand outreach program in earth science, geology, environmental science, or a related field.
Experience developinghands-on, experiential learning activities in the geosciences.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonalcommunication skills.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
Experience of public speaking todiversegroups with varying levels of understanding of geoscience topics.
Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and maintainattention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple budgets.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
Ability to promote and foster justice,diversity, equity, andinclusionin all aspects ofeducationand outreach work.
Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including evenings and weekends.
Ability to travel.
