About the Role:
Join a mission-driven Development and External Affairs team dedicated to building strong internal and external relationships, raising vital funds, and increasing visibility for the organization’s life-changing work. The Manager of Individual Giving and Donor Communications will play a critical role in managing and growing individual giving and digital fundraising programs, supporting major gifts efforts, and working with leadership to create and refine fundraising strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
Appeals & Donor Communications
Develop and manage the annual fundraising communications calendar across email, direct mail, and social media.
Draft compelling donor materials, including e-solicitations, year-end campaigns, and appeals.
Partner with the Communications team to leverage digital platforms and social media to engage and solicit new supporters.
Expand and manage the recurring giving program, including donor stewardship and communications.
Analyze donor segmentation and campaign performance data, adjusting strategies for greater impact.
Launch and manage a donor renewals program to increase retention and giving levels.
Major Gifts
Support leadership in major donor strategy, cultivation, and solicitation planning.
Identify and recommend donor prospects for major giving engagement based on fundraising and communications data.
Conduct donor research and prepare briefings for leadership and Board engagement.
Draft compelling proposals, reports, and personalized donor communications.
Assist in building a Planned Giving program and re-launching a Young Leaders Council initiative.
Collaborate on donor cultivation events alongside the Special Events team.
Administration & Strategy
Co-develop annual fundraising strategies for Individual Giving and Major Gifts.
Ensure donor records and interactions are accurately tracked in Raiser’s Edge CRM.
Regularly prepare reports and donor analytics dashboards for leadership review.
Stay informed about the organization’s programs and source success stories to share with donors.
Support special projects and other department initiatives as needed.
Qualifications:
Required:
3-5+ years of nonprofit fundraising experience, with a strong focus on individual giving and donor communications.
Proven success in digital and print fundraising and online marketing.
Strong writing skills with the ability to translate complex societal issues into compelling donor messaging.
Proficiency in email marketing tools (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact) and basic graphic design skills.
Highly organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple projects independently.
Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Preferred:
Bachelor’s Degree.
Experience using donor database software (Raiser’s Edge preferred).
Knowledge of New York City’s philanthropic, business, and government landscape.
