The Avoyelles Parish Library Board of Control is seeking a dynamic, experienced, and community-focused professional to serve as Library Director, the chief executive officer of our parish-wide public library system.
The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with a proven track record in public administration or nonprofit management, capable of supervising over 20 employees and overseeing operations across multiple branches. This is an executive-level role responsible for budgeting, grants, personnel, facilities, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the administrative head of the library system, reporting directly to the Board of Control.
Develop and manage the system-wide budget, oversee grant opportunities, and ensure fiscal accountability.
Supervise library staff and enforce personnel policies.
Oversee facilities, technology infrastructure, procurement, and recordkeeping.
Represent the library in official matters with local and state government, community partners, and stakeholders.
Work closely with the certified Head Librarian to align library services with community needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Public Administration, Library Science, Business, or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of executive or administrative experience in a public-sector or nonprofit setting (preferred).
Demonstrated skills in budgeting, human resource management, operations, and policy implementation.
