We are a busy, client-centered nonprofit law firm located in downtown Modesto, proudly serving low-income older adults in Stanislaus and Merced Counties for over a decade. Our work environment is dynamic, collaborative, and mission-driven.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Legal Assistant or Paralegal to join our team. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of legal experience and a strong commitment to serving vulnerable communities, particularly in the area of consumer debt.

Key Responsibilities:

Support attorneys in case management and deadline tracking

Draft, format, and proofread legal documents and bankruptcy forms

Organize and maintain case files

Communicate with clients, witnesses, opposing counsel, and vendors

File and serve legal documents as needed

Requirements:

Minimum one year of legal assistant or paralegal experience

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Highly organized, detail-oriented, and reliable

Proficient in Microsoft Office, internet research, and email

Quick to learn new systems and processes

Professional, flexible, and a collaborative team player

Committed to serving low-income and older adult clients with empathy and respect

Preferred Qualifications:

Bilingual (Spanish or other language relevant to the communities we serve)

Experience in civil litigation and/or bankruptcy
