Salary Range – $19.00 – $21.00
Full Time, Days (40 hours/week)

The Opportunity
As a member of Leading Black Wolf, the Mentor ‘s role is to to provide transitional supports for youth from 16 to 21 years of age that are leaving the care of Child and Family Services. You will be providing one-on-one mentorship to develop life skills alongside facilitating culturally based activities and utilizing community resources.
What You Will Be Doing….
Creating positive and attainable expectations and goals alongside the Mentees
Fostering the Mentees individual strengths and talents and customizing provided supports and resources
Teaching life skills, such as budgeting and housing, how to access child care, and understanding healthy relationships
Recruiting, and retaining participants; listening to concerns and troubleshooting requests
Modeling responsible, engaged, and positive behaviour
Ensuring that traditional knowledge is incorporated in all levels of the program
Facilitating and organizing a variety of youth activities
Cultivating creative, holistic, and sincere mentorship and support
Informing the Coordinator of concerns, questions, and challenges
Following Organizational safety protocols and procedures, including transportation of participants as required
Who You Are:
Demonstrated understanding of the mentorship role working alongside vulnerable youth
An engaged mentor that ensures participants are able to access resources barrier free
Able to take detailed case notes and produce report documentation if required
Takes initiative on program planning, prepping and facilitating
A harm reduction and trauma informed lens advocate
A builder of strong relationships with participants and other stakeholders involved
Demonstrator and incorporator of cultural knowledge and competence
Knowledgeable on youth and community resources, and able to assist in system navigation
You Have:
Relevant post-secondary education, or combination of education and experience;
One – two (1-2) years’ experience working with vulnerable youth;
A valid Manitoba Driver’s License , clear drivers abstract and reliable
