Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced, visionary Landscape Artist to design, cultivate, and maintain the non-food-producing landscapes of 4Roots Farm Campus. This role goes beyond routine grounds keeping; we are looking for a creative professional who can conceptualize and execute breathtaking, showcase-worthy landscapes that harmonize with regenerative farming principles and elevate the overall aesthetic appeal of the campus.The ideal candidate will have a passion for landscape design, hands-on horticultural expertise, and the ability to create immersive, ever-evolving outdoor environments that reflect Florida-friendly, sustainable, and biodiverse landscaping practices. Key ResponsibilitiesLandscape Design & Execution- Develop and implement master landscape designs that enhance the campus’s natural beauty while aligning with sustainability and regenerative agriculture principles.- Conceptualize and construct visually stunning gardens, flower beds, and ornamental plant displays that evolve seasonally and provide an engaging experience for visitors.- Incorporate native, pollinator-friendly, and climate-resilient plant species to support biodiversity and ecosystem health. Horticultural & Grounds Management- Oversee the health and maintenance of all non-food-producing plants, ensuring optimal soil conditions, irrigation efficiency, and pest management using eco-friendly solutions.- Implement pruning, fertilization, mulching, and composting practices that contribute to the long-term health of the landscape.- Monitor seasonal changes and proactively adjust plant selections and landscape features accordingly. Sustainability & Regenerative Practices- Integrate regenerative landscaping techniques such as water conservation, soil restoration, and compost-based fertilization into daily operations.- Design and manage green spaces that contribute to the overall sustainability of the campus, including rain gardens, native wildflower meadows, and permaculture-inspired plantings. Collaboration & Leadership- Provide guidance and oversight to the grounds maintenance team, ensuring all landscaping tasks, including mowing, edging, hedge trimming, and weeding, are executed efficiently.- Work closely with educators, volunteers, and farm staff to create interactive and educational landscapes that serve as learning tools for sustainability and environmental awareness.- Collaborate on special projects and campus events, designing temporary or permanent landscape features that enhance visitor experiences. Qualifications & RequirementsRequired:- Minimum 5+ years of experience in landscape design, horticulture, or a related field.- Strong expertise in Florida-friendly landscaping, including knowledge of native plants, climate considerations, and ecological interactions.- Proficiency in garden planning, plant care, irrigation systems, and pest management using organic and sustainable methods.- Ability to conceptualize and execute high-impact landscape designs that elevate the visual appeal and ecological function of the campus.- Experience in leading a team and managing comprehensive projects, with the ability to direct grounds maintenance staff effectively.- Comfortable working outdoors year-round in various weather conditions. Preferred:- Experience in regenerative agriculture, permaculture, or ecological landscaping.- Background in public garden design, botanical curation, or educational landscaping.- Familiarity with eco-friendly pest control, soil health restoration, and pollinator-friendly planting strategies.- Previous work in an educational, nonprofit, or community-driven agricultural setting.
