Our work is dramatically accelerating the research process through our varied research initiatives; we also provide extensive educational and support resources for patients and their families, medical professionals, and the public. In addition, we lead federal and state-based advocacy campaigns to support medical research funding and improve patient access to care. Position Summary

The Foundation has an exciting learning opportunity available for a Business Development Intern. This is a chance to work within a leading non-profit organization to gain firsthand knowledge, particularly in corporate development and fundraising that help an organization accomplish its mission. This role would provide exposure to the overall field of fundraising and development in the non-profit sector. We are seeking someone for this internship who is high-energy, detailed oriented and a self-starter with strong inter-personal and communication skills.

The 8-week Summer Internship Program will run from June 9 – July 31. This is a hybrid internship with 2 days/week in the Foundation’s New York City office and 2 days/week remote.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Help research and identify potential corporate partners and grant opportunities.

Support the creation and distribution of solicitation and stewardship materials, including emails, presentations and proposals.

Perform outreach and follow-up to secure meetings and initial interest from potential corporate partners.

Provide administrative support for databases, including entering and updating information.

Assist in tracking and analyzing corporate donor development cycle data and metrics to assess effectiveness.

Help coordinate corporate donor stewardship efforts, including thank-you notes, recognition efforts, and follow-up communications.

Attend meetings and participate in brainstorming sessions related to corporate development strategy and goals.

Other related tasks as assigned by the Vice President, Business Development.

Qualifications

Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a degree in nonprofit management, communications, marketing, business, or a related field.

Strong interest in nonprofit work, fundraising, and community engagement.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Organized, detail-oriented, and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); familiarity with fundraising software or donor management tools is a plus.

Positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Experience with marketing and storytelling preferred.

Passion for and/or connection to the Foundation mission preferred.

Interest and comfort level with sales and outreach preferred.

Must be pro-active, self-directed, detail-oriented and organized, as well as work independently in a virtual setting.

Ability to interact professionally with multiple and diverse cross-departmental stakeholders

Ability to prioritize, work under pressure and meet deadlines (with supervision).
