Job Overview
Environmental Leaders of Color, a Mount Vernon-based non-profit organization, spearheads a program to impart advanced computer science education to high school students from socially and economically vulnerable backgrounds. Our Technology & The Environment Saturday morning program is looking for an instructor to teach students the basics of Artificial Intelligence or AI. As the instructor, you will lead the class with engaging lesson plans, with support from teaching assistants.
Duties
– We are seeking a candidate who can
Commit to instructing high school students who possess sufficient experience and knowledge in computer science topics.
Develop a comprehensive lesson plan on AI suitable for beginners and high school age students
Be available Saturdays, from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon at the SUNY Westchester – Mount Vernon Extension.
Attend weekly team meetings via Zoom to review lesson plans & collaborate ideas
Demonstrate an ability to engage with high school students and offer personalized assistance to those who may encounter comprehension challenges.
Qualifications
– Eligible candidates should be
College graduate, Computer science major, formal background preferred
legal resident of the United States
available to commute to the City of Mount Vernon on Saturday mornings at own expense (parking is available if driving)
have the personality to keep the class fun and engaging
Experience in curriculum development
Teaching experience preferred
Job Types: Part-time, Temporary
Pay: $30.00 – $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 4 per week
