As part of The Link’s mission, you will provide vital relationship-based assistance to youth overcoming historical and systemic challenges. The Housing Mentor’s role encompasses personal development, housing stability, and cultural connection, ensuring meaningful support for youth navigating their journey towards independent living.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop trusting, authentic relationships with youth
• Teach practical life skills such as household management
• Assist in the application and search for suitable housing
• Advocate for youth rights in tenancy situations
• Coordinate access to community and cultural resources
Requirements:
• Background in Child and Youth Care or Indigenous Studies
• Familiarity with trauma-informed care and harm reduction
• Experience in youth support and crisis resolution
• Capacity for teamwork and independent work
• Willingness to obtain necessary certifications
Through mentorship and cultural engagement, help youth discover their strengths as they gain independence.
