Tutoring is important because each student learns differently. It’s fun because it gives you a chance to work with youth and gain experience. Seeing the look on a student’s face when they can correctly answer their homework problem due to your help is truly priceless!
Help our PAL Kids complete their homework assignments, and use tools to improve their core math and language arts skills. Join us and have a huge impact on a child’s future. Hollywood PAL is dedicated to helping low-income youth in the Hollywood Community.
We are looking for volunteers who have had past experience with teaching and learning methods, especially those who can help students struggling with disabilities such as dyslexia, ADHD, and autism.
Hollywood PAL is willing to sign off on any community service hours and volunteer hours.

Mission Statement
Hollywood PAL drives positive change in the community by partnering with LAPD and school-aged youth in programs that celebrate diversity, equity, and inclusion, inspiring personal excellence, social awareness, and civic engagement.
Description
We need consistent and caring volunteers for our academic enrichment programs. Our tutoring and mentoring programs provide essential academic and social/career support to school-aged youth. Tutors meet with students one to three hours a week, Monday through Thursday after school, across the school year. We ask for a minimum commitment of once a week for at least one semester.
Our mentoring program pairs youth with adult volunteers to help them navigate academic and social challenges, including career guidance and peer pressure. Mentors and mentees meet once a week on Tuesdays at 4 pm for an hour. Volunteers should be passionate about helping youth, patient, and able to engage in conversations about their future.
