Seeking an experienced candidate with a solid HR foundation and a willingness to learn. Great opportunity to work with senior HR leader and gain experience in all aspects of HR as the department is being revamped.

Primary focus will be to support and coordinate the human resources operations for the organization including benefits, payroll, recruiting, onboarding, and documentation/HRIS maintenance. Additional responsibilities will include assisting the HR Director with talent development, performance management, and employee engagement.

The ideal candidate will maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times, have demonstrable skills in communication and relationship building, and be well-organized and conscientious.

Responsibilities include:

Serves as initial point of contact for HR inquiries, prioritizing and escalating as appropriate.

Coordinates the recruitment process: job postings, resume screening, interview scheduling, reference checks, background checks, & formal offer letters.

Administers new hire process including paperwork, E-Verify, HRIS entry, & benefits enrollment.

Coordinates the orientation and onboarding process; assists in conducting orientation.

Supports payroll process and submits payroll changes to Finance team.

Maintains employee files, enters and tracks PCRs in HRIS, and runs reports as needed.

Processes benefit plan enrollments, changes, and terminations; coordinates with payroll to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions; audits benefits invoices & submits for processing.

Assists with various HR activities including talent development, performance management, and employee engagement as appropriate.

Administers exit process including termination checklist, benefits notifications, and HRIS update.

Supports HR audits, compliance activities, and ongoing continuous improvement projects including updating of forms and policies, documentation of processes, and other best practices as applicable.

Supports the HR Director with special projects and other initiatives as applicable.

Stays informed of employment law changes and relevant policies and regulations that impact HR.

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field plus 3 years of HR experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Prefer PHR or SHRM-CP certification.

Prefer experience in nonprofit organizations.

The HR Specialist will be eligible for our generous benefits package including free employee-only health coverage and a 7% discretionary company contribution to the 401k.

Hourly pay range: $22.63 – $25.48

This is a hybrid role which will typically involve 2 days per month in the Raleigh office.
