Job Summary:
We seek a proactive and detail-oriented HR Generalist & Administrative Support to join our team. This role blends HR functions, recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and administrative duties, requiring strong computer skills and a commitment to providing excellent employee and member support. The ideal candidate must be flexible, organized, and comfortable traveling within the Bay Area to support multiple club locations.
Key Responsibilities:
Employee Relations:
Lead the human resource function for five Boys & Girls Clubs of Silicon Valley locations in the Contra Costa area.
Oversee new hire onboarding, training, and orientation, including background checks and TB test collection.
Maintain accurate HR records, including hiring documentation, onboarding materials, and employee relations files.
Support employee relations by addressing concerns, conducting investigations, and escalating issues as needed.
Foster a positive workplace culture by guiding policy implementation, conflict resolution, and performance management.
Manage HR tasks related to compensation, benefits, leave administration, and compliance.
Respond to employee and applicant inquiries regarding policies, benefits, and hiring, referring complex issues to senior HR staff.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws while staying current on HR best practices.
Administrative Support:
Provide clerical support to the Executive Director of the Club, assisting with maintaining records and organizing documents.
Perform periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure compliance and proper documentation.
Culture & Team Support:
Foster an environment of trust, kindness, and open communication.
Encourage a culture of feedback by engaging in honest and constructive conversations.
Approach daily tasks with flexibility, reliability, and readiness to support where needed.
Technology & Compliance:
Maintain confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive HR information.
Utilize human resources information systems (HRIS) and applicant tracking systems (ATS).
Stay informed about employment law changes and HR technology advancements.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
Experience: 5+ years in a Human Resources role, preferably in a nonprofit, youth services, or customer-facing environment.
Education: A bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field is preferred.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and HRIS/ATS platforms.
Soft Skills: Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
Customer Service: Friendly and professional demeanor with the ability to interact effectively with staff, parents, and community members.
Travel: Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel within the Bay Area.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with a nonprofit or youth-serving organization.
Knowledge of California labor laws.
PHR or SHRM-CP certification is a plus.
