Ready to make a life-changing impact every single day?
At Crossnore Communities for Children, we’ve been walking alongside children and families for more than 100 years – helping them heal, grow, and thrive. Guided by The Way to Hope and Healing, we provide safe homes, trauma-informed care, and supportive partnerships that help children stay connected with families and build strong futures.
If you’re a warm, committed couple or duo (partners, spouses, relatives, or close friends) who wants to show up fully for youth and young adults in foster care – then your next meaningful chapter could begin right here with us.
Why You’ll Love Working Here
You and your partner will:
- Live in an agency-provided home and create a safe, structured, and nurturing household.
- Support youth with daily routines, emotional connection, and trauma-informed care using proven models like Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) and Sanctuary Model.
- Help young people practice real-world skills like budgeting, cooking, self-care, school and job pursuits, and community engagement.
- Build trusted relationships with community partners – schools, Social Services, therapists, and employers – to help each young person succeed.
Why This Role is Different
Our Bridging Families™ program, endorsed by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services as the state model for professional foster parenting, allows you to work with sibling groups of children ages 18 and younger while partnering closely with birth parents to support reunification. You are an active member of the reunification team, helping families heal, stabilize, and move safely toward being together again.
Modeled after Bridging Families™, our Bridging Futures™ program supports youth ages 17–21 who are preparing to age out of foster care. In this role, you provide stable housing, consistent adult support, and hands-on life-skills coaching as young people build independence. Together, we focus on education, employment, financial literacy, healthy relationships, and long-term stability—so youth don’t age out alone.
What You’ll Do (Day-to-Day)
Together, you and your partner will:
- Provide 24/7 live-in support and supervision for up to 6 youth or young adults in foster care.
- Establish and maintain trauma-informed routines that support physical health, emotional wellbeing, schooling, and social growth.
- Take part in regular meetings with a compassionate and supportive multi-disciplinary team, including Child and Family Therapists, Case Managers, Supervisors, Regional Directors, and fellow Bridge Parents.
- Model positive behavior, teach life skills, and support education, employment, and independent living goals.
- Maintain accurate documentation, coordinate appointments, and uphold foster care licensing standards.
- Facilitate household meetings, plan community outings, and create opportunities for celebration and growth.
- Coach and partner with biological families when appropriate — strengthening bonds and supporting reunification.
