Who are we looking for?
AHF Poland is looking for a compassionate, values-driven HIV Testing Counselor to support our HIV prevention and testing services in Lublin. You will provide rapid HIV and STIs testing, counseling, and education on HIV/STIs prevention and sexual health, helping people access essential services in a welcoming, professional, and stigma-free environment.
How will you be helping our mission?
You will:
- Provide rapid HIV and STI testing with supportive pre- and post-test counseling, both at the Checkpoint and during outreach activities.
- Create a welcoming, respectful, confidential, and stigma-free experience for clients.
- Coordinate appointments and support clients who need linkage to care, including follow-up and required documentation.
- Provide sexual health education, prevention information, and individual prevention plans tailored to clients’ needs.
- Collect, enter, review, and report testing and counseling data accurately and in line with AHF standards.
- Monitor testing and prevention supplies and support smooth day-to-day Checkpoint operations.
- Support outreach events, community activities, and AHF Poland/Europe initiatives, including testing, counseling, education, and condom distribution.
- Work with AHF colleagues, country teams, and volunteers to strengthen service delivery and expand the reach of Checkpoint services.
- Carry out other related tasks assigned by the Country Program Manager.
What we are looking for:
We’re looking for someone who:
- Holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing, laboratory diagnostics, emergency medicine, paramedicine, or a related healthcare field, and is legally authorized to perform rapid testing and blood collection;
- Communicates confidently in Polish and in English;
- Has knowledge of HIV, STIs, sexual health, and current approaches to HIV testing, prevention, and care;
- Is comfortable discussing sexual health topics openly, professionally, and without judgment;
- Demonstrates empathy, cultural sensitivity, and a strong commitment to client confidentiality;
- Builds trust easily and enjoys working with diverse communities, including key and underserved populations;
- Has excellent interpersonal, communication, intercultural and organizational skills;
- Can work independently and manage responsibilities with minimal supervision;
- Is flexible and available to work evenings and weekends;
- Has basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Nice to have:
- Experience working with the LGBTQ+ community or a strong understanding of issues affecting LGBTQ+ populations in Poland;
- Additional language skills;
- A valid Category B driving licence.
