4-H Youth Development Coordinator – Greene & Sumter Counties
Location: This position will be housed in the Greene County Extension Office in Eutaw, Alabama, and will serve both Greene and Sumter counties!
Who we are: The Alabama Cooperative Extension System is the outreach organization for the land grant mission of Auburn University and Alabama A&M University. Our educational programs grow from these two land grant university campuses to serve the people of Alabama. We deliver science-based educational programs that enable people to improve their quality of life and economic well-being.
Who we’re looking for: We are seeking a servant leader that has a passion for working with youth in Greene & Sumter counties! As a 4-H Youth Development Coordinator (4-H YDC), this position provides the opportunity to do something new every day — our 4-H YDCs work with animals, outdoors, STEM, gardening, cooking, and everything in between. Must be willing to work as part of a team and serve a diverse population.

Specific Roles and Responsibilities of 4-H Youth Development Coordinators:
Develops leadership and engagement skills to grow and sustain the county 4-H program in five areas of excellence.
Diversifies program delivery by learning new programs, resources, and skills offered by Program Priority Team (PPT).
Stays current on demographic and socioeconomic changes to include diverse voices in program prioritization and planning.
Provides leadership, direction, organization, and implementation of a broad-based county 4-H program.
Provides experiential learning opportunities for youth through teaching and mentoring.
Manages local data collection, including 4-H Online, in conjunction with program area requirements.
Minimum Qualifications: Must have a bachelor’s degree in a discipline directly related to one of four major program areas: agriculture, forestry, natural resources; human sciences; 4-H youth development; community engagement/development.
Minimum Required skills and abilities:
Must possess a strong work ethic and a sense of responsibility.
Basic knowledge in educational technologies.
The ability to work in a team setting and promote teamwork.
Ability to work a flexible schedule which will include some nights, weekends, and overnight travel.
Must have a valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
Desired Qualifications: A master’s degree in a discipline directly related to one of our major program areas is highly preferred.
Salary Information
Minimum Starting Salary: $43,860 for a Bachelor’s Degree; $47,860 for a Master’s Degree. Salary will be commensurate with relevant, professional work experience.
