Growing the Good Food District VISTA Jobs in California at AmeriCorps

Project New Village is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit working to revitalize and transform the food supply system of Greater Southeastern San Diego. The Good Food District, which is Project New Village’s model for neighborhood transformation, aims to elevate and integrate urban agriculture to increase access to healthy food and as a key component of community revitalization in food-insecure neighborhoods. PNV’s mission is to serve as a catalyst for resident-led, community-rooted experiences that BUILD stronger neighborhoods; IMPROVE the neighborhood food supply chain; STIMULATE collective investment in better health; and MAXIMIZE the impact of investment to address social inequities. Located in Southeastern San Diego, near bus and trolley stops, Project New Village is seeking an outgoing and organized VISTA to participate in meetings to enhance community knowledge about the agency’s mission, projects, programs, and events, work with staff and Board members to engage new donors and sponsors, and create a donor stewardship program. If you are a hard-working individual looking to put your administrative skills to work in a dynamic and community-oriented environment, this could be the perfect growth opportunity for you. You can expect to learn about urban agriculture and neighborhood-level resource challenges as you work to increase organizational capacity to raise funds to support food security and community revitalization in disinvested neighborhoods. www.projectnewvillage.org
