Overview:
The Foundation YMCA is seeking enthusiastic and qualified Swim Lesson Instructors to join our aquatics team. As a Swim Lesson Instructor, you will play a vital role in teaching participants of all ages and skill levels the fundamentals of swimming and water safety. This position requires a passion for working with children, strong communication skills, and the ability to create a safe and supportive learning environment in and around the water.
This is a part-time, hourly position with flexible scheduling options available; Expected hours: 4 – 10 per week in the evenings Monday-Friday and weekends as needed

Responsibilities:
Conduct swim lessons in accordance with YMCA and American Red Cross guidelines
Provide individual and group swim instruction to participants of varying ages and abilities
Manage a group of up to 4 children to stay on task and engaged during lessons
Ensure the safety of all participants by enforcing pool rules and maintaining vigilant supervision at all times
Evaluate participants’ progress and adjust teaching strategies as needed to promote skill development
Communicate effectively with participants and their guardians regarding lesson progress, skills achieved, and areas for improvement
Maintain accurate records of participant attendance, skill achievements, and any incidents that may occur
Assist with the set-up and clean-up of swim lesson equipment and ensure proper storage
Attend all scheduled staff meetings, training sessions, and in-service workshops as required
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to lift and carry swim lesson equipment (up to 25 pounds)
Ability to stand for extended periods and move around the pool deck and in the water
Must be able to demonstrate swimming strokes and water safety skills
Qualifications:
Minimum age of 16 years old
Previous experience working with children required
Ability to demonstrate and teach proper swim techniques in a patient and encouraging manner
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Posted Salary Range: USD $12.00 – USD $15.00 /Hr.
