Position: Â 2025 Green Iowa Environmental Steward Position RHT 6-Mo
Green Iowa Ameri Corps operates through the University of Northern Iowa’s Center for Energy and EnvironmentalEducation(UNI CEEE) in Cedar Falls. Our program hopes to train the next generation of ‘green-collar’ workers through a combination of field trips, presentations, andhands-on learning. Members have the opportunity to buildleadershipabilities through specific coordinator roles, which will allow each member to contribute their own unique skills to the program.
Members have access to free trainings,hands-onskill development, and extensivecommunity engagement. Our mission is empowering Iowa’s communities and school districts to make more environmental, conservation-minded decisions and improvements through direct service work, environmentaleducation,professional development opportunities, and volunteer engagement. Our program will provide Ameri Corps members with theunique opportunityto enhance theirprofessional developmentgoals, cultivate community-wide relationships, and work toward making Iowa a more sustainable, economic state.
Member Duties:
Engage in direct service 2-3 days per week.
Participate in educational programs 1-2 days per week.
Engage in service projects to involve volunteers 1-2 days per week.
Engage regularly inprofessional development, trainings, and civic engagement.
Recruit and manage volunteers for service projects.
Plant and execute environmentaleducationevents, in person and online.
Implement land conservation practices including tree planting, invasive species removal, and native habitat restoration.
Complete waste and energy reduction assessments for their districts in conjunction with students, facilities, and district staff.
Complete a climate action plan for their district(s) to assess climate impacts and develop future planning decisions and upgrades as available.
Complete 1Professional DevelopmentProject.
