Position Summary
This position will oversee and coordinate all grant development activities within the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands development department. The Grants Director is a critical link to securing revenue growth for Club sustainability through funding opportunities with foundations, corporations, and public funders. The role is responsible for managing the full grant lifecycle—from prospect research and proposal development to compliance and final reporting—all while ensuring compelling narratives, accurate data reporting, and timely submissions.
The Grant Director will report to the Chief Development Officer, as well as working closely with the programs, operations and finance teams.
Essential Functions
- Prepares, submits and manages grant proposals for foundations, corporations and public grants as agreed upon and reviewed by the Chief Development Officer to fund organization's annual operating budget.
- Prepares grant reports in compliance with grant award guidelines and deadlines.
- Researches and identifies new funding streams while renewing existing support.
- Stay informed on latest public policy and funding related to Club operations.
- Coordinates grants management processes including oversight of pre and post-award data management, reporting, stewardship and multi-year grant requirements and payments.
- Ensures compliance with all grant reporting processes.
- Manages and maintains grant tracking system/calendar.
- Works closely with colleagues to learn about projects that could be funded through grants.
- Writes copy for and edits solicitation and promotional pieces in coordination with Development team members, including direct mail appeals, case statements, annual reports, fundraising brochures, newsletters, acknowledgements and other Development materials as assigned.
- Prioritizes multiple deadlines and manages supplemental requirements for grant proposals.
- Provides support for fundraising events, as needed.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Required Experience
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in English, public administration, business, communications, marketing or a related field.
- Three (3) year's work experience in non-profit agency operations and/or grant writing.
- Proven effectiveness applying for, securing and reporting on a grant portfolio of at least $1 million annually.
- Experience tracking grants and using online grant application systems.
- Demonstrated project management skills.
- Must be proficient in the use of Windows, Internet, Microsoft Suite (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Access or other database software proficiency) and Google Platform (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides).
- Must be able to pass a drug test, criminal and driving records investigation.
- The ability to read and write is necessary to complete reports and properly document program and organizational data.
