Clarkson Regional Health Services is looking for an experienced Grants Administrator.

This is a new role for our organization. The Grants Administrator will assist in developing and growing our grantmaking program, including implementing a grants management system and designing our grant administration process to support the efficient management of the full grant lifecycle. We are a small but highly effective team, and the Grants Administrator position is crucial to ensuring our foundation’s grantmaking effectiveness. Success in this position requires a person who leads with a cross-functional and collaborative mindset, a client-service orientation, and a drive toward continuous process improvements.

Clarkson Regional Health Services (d/b/a Clarkson Institute) is a dynamic, philanthropic organization dedicated to improving and advancing healthcare in Nebraska and Western Iowa. We advance our mission by both developing and conducting our own programs and activities, and providing funding and grantmaking to nonprofit organizations focused on health and wellness.  

This position reports to the Grants and Program Manager. 

Role Overview:

1.       Manage the operational components of grantmaking

  • Administer all components of the grant life cycle, including: application processing, database management, grant review, grant documentation/reporting, and grant closeout
  • Ensure that grants comply with all regulatory and foundation guidelines, maintaining accurate documentation for auditing purposes
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the grants management system; provide technical assistance on the grants management system
  • Assist in the preparation of materials and summaries for grant review meetings
  • Proactively assess and refine grantmaking and administrative processes to improve efficiency

2.       Build working relationships with applicants and grantees

  • Provide excellent customer service to grantees and applicants
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with grantees, fostering collaboration and partnership
  • Conduct research on prospective grantees
  • Attend grantee site visits or community events as requested
  • Assist grantees to complete necessary reporting and data collection

3.       Collaborate across teams and deliver operational support

  • Work with the CFO on grants-related budget tracking and grant payment processing
  • Collaborate with the Public Relations and Communications manager on maintaining the Grants section of the website and social media efforts
  • Regularly share updates and insights from the grantee "frontlines" with the broader team
  • Provide technical and administrative support to grant evaluators and other team members
  • Stay informed about trends in philanthropy and grants administration; provide guidance and function as a subject matter expert in the area of grants administration

Required Education and Experience:

  •  3+ years of experience in grants administration, grants management, or a similar role within a foundation, nonprofit organization, or in social and community services
  • Associate’s degree in communications, business, management, public administration, healthcare, or public health (or a related field), bachelor’s degree strongly preferred 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledgeable about philanthropy and grantmaking practices
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • High degree of flexibility and adaptability as the grants program continues to evolve
  • Comfort working in a small team environment with shifting priorities and an all-hands-on-deck mindset
  • Work both independently and collaboratively to advance a shared vision
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
  • A positive, professional demeanor with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships; excellent customer service
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Technological savvy that supports organizational productivity and efficiency
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Working at Clarkson Regional Health Services

Our office is conveniently located off Regency Parkway- right in the center of Omaha, with easy access to Interstate 680. Most employees work a 4:1 hybrid schedule, with four days in the office and one remote day each week. We have a small, collaborative team and work in a relaxed environment with a casual dress code.

Salary is competitive within the philanthropic sector and will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. We offer an excellent benefits package for full-time employees, including health insurance, PTO, retirement contribution match, wellness benefits, professional development reimbursement, and more. 

The estimated salary range for this position starts at $70,000 per year.

Other Requirements

Work is performed in a professional office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally be required to attend meetings and events that take place at alternate locations. Dependable transportation is required. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required with advance notice. The person in this position frequently communicates with others. Must be able to effectively communicate in English through in-person, phone, and written communication channels.

General physical demands include, but not limited to: (i) regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard (with or without aids); (ii) ability to remain in a stationary (sit) position for extended periods of time; (iii) ability to see and read a computer screen and printed material (with or without vision aids); and (iv) carrying, lifting, and moving lightweight objects (up to 10 pounds).
