About the Position

The Grant Writer is responsible for supporting Welcome Home Angel’s fundraising strategy by researching, drafting, and tracking grant applications and reports. This position plays a critical role in securing funding for existing programs and new initiatives, including WHA’s new aging-in-place expansion (CapAble). The Coordinator will work closely with the Advancement Director to develop a grants calendar, maintain proposal materials, and communicate impact to funders. This role requires strong writing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to translate program strategy into compelling narratives.

Deliverables & Responsibilities

Including but not limited to:

Grant Development and Reporting

Identify grant opportunities aligned with WHA’s mission and strategic priorities.

Draft compelling letters of inquiry, grant proposals, and progress reports for foundations, corporations, and government funders.

Work with program staff to gather relevant data, stories, and outcome metrics.

Track grant deadlines, submissions, and reporting using WHA’s CRM (Virtuous and Instrumentl).

Funder Stewardship and Research

Maintain a grant pipeline and funder prospect list.

Conduct research on new prospective funders and community funding initiatives.

Assist with preparation of funder engagement materials and impact summaries.

Strategic Support

Collaborate with Advancement Director and CEO on messaging related to expansion programs, including CapAble and the ABLE Continuum of Care.

Coordinate with the program team to understand emerging needs and integrate them into proposals.

Maintain accuracy of boilerplate language, organizational documents, and templates.

Required Qualifications

2+ years experience in nonprofit development, grant writing, or communications.

Strong written communication skills, especially persuasive and narrative writing.

Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with CRM platforms (Virtuous preferred).

Understanding of or willingness to learn about accessibility, universal design, and social impact programs.

CANDIDATES THAT DO NOT HAVE GRANT WRITING EXPERIENCE WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $750.00 – $1,000.00 per month
