Position: Â Grant Writer – Contract
The Healthy Community Initiative (HCI) values and empowers youth to be better positioned for positive health, educational completion, career readiness, and upward economic mobility. We work alongside people and partners to create systems transformation in Rice County, Minnesota; and our programming supports youth from cradle to career, along with their families.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Grant Writer will help create high-quality grant solicitation materials, most commonly in response to government RFPs and in support of HCI partners. The Grant Writer will receive work direction from HCI’s Director of Grants & Opportunity. This position is:
1) open to contractors outside the local area of Rice County, Minnesota;
2) fully remote; and
3) expected to create original narratives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Write compelling, data-driven narratives that align with RFP priorities.
Draft letters of support that strengthen proposals.
Draft reports in response to awarded projects.
Stay in alignment with predetermined timelines.
Assist in reviewing funder specifications when requested.
Assist in required documentation assembly of required forms and attachments when requested.
Communicate effectively and regularly with HCI’s Director of Grants & Opportunity.
Attend meetings (virtual) as requested by HCI’s Director of Grants & Opportunity and scheduled inappreciationof the Grant Writer’s non-HCI calendar.
KEY SKILLS
Thorough understanding andappreciationof the full grant funding process.
Outcome-driven writing, derived without the use of artificial intelligence.
Excellent organizational skills.
Ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Commitment to diversity, equity, andinclusion.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
5 or more years of successful government grant funding solicitation.
Experience with Microsoft Excel, Dropbox, Google, and Google Docs.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Background in writing for early childhood, PreK-12education, and/or youth development programming.
