PROGRAM & POSITION SUMMARY
School Health Clinics of Santa Clara County improves the health and well-being of nearly 5,000 low income, medically underserved individuals each year by providing easily accessible, high-quality health care. Our five clinics are located on public school campuses in San José and Gilroy, and offer comprehensive primary and preventive care including immunizations, physicals, behavioral health care, reproductive health services, and chronic disease management. Our mission is to provide essential, high-quality, and affordable health care services for adults and children in the local community. Begun in 1986 as pediatric clinics, School Health Clinics now serves patients of all ages; no one is ever turned away due to their inability to pay. The Grant Writer supports the cultivation of charitable support from philanthropic business, corporate, and foundation donors primarily through the research, writing, and submission of grant proposals and reports as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the Grant Lifecycle: Oversee all aspects of the grant process, from identifying opportunities to submitting applications and managing awards
Craft Proposals & Reports: Develop and submit letters of inquiry, proposals, budgets, and reports to secure and maintain funding
Manage Grant Calendar: Create and maintain a comprehensive calendar to track grant activities and deadlines, ensuring timely submissions and compliance
Collaborate Internally: Work closely with internal teams to manage grant reporting, ensuring compliance with donor requirements and accurate data collection
Build & Foster Relationships: Develop strong connections with a variety of funders, including corporate, private, government agencies, and School Health Clinics Board of Directors
Implement Stewardship Practices: Enhance relationships through communications and events to strengthen funder engagement
Assist with the development of marketing and outreach materials
Coordinate online and in-person fundraising events
Create and manage content for website and social media channels
Participate in outreach activities to advertise the services of School Health Clinics to neighboring communities
Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution of higher education is required.
2-3 years of successful grant writing experience.
Knowledge of or experience in non-profit services and federal grant management for a Federally Qualified Health Center.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Demonstrated success in grant proposal writing, including state and federal grants, preferably in the health care setting.
Excellent organizational, communication, and planning skills. High degree of attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines efficiently and simultaneously.
Solid team player who is able to work well collaboratively on projects and when under pressure.
Proficiency in common word processing, desktop publishing, and database software applications.
Demonstrates the necessary attitudes, knowledge and skills to deliver culturally competent services and work effectively in cross-cultural situations.
