Job Overview

Part-time hours to start (10+ hours/week); could turn into full-time position, based on candidate fit and caseload; Benefits eligible at 20+ hours per week

Expected compensation range: $19,000 to $47,000 part time, up to $78,000 full time, dependent on hours worked, education, and experience

Based out of our Kona office; candidate will have the ability to travel to the northern and southern areas of the Big Island, as needed for caseload. Agency vehicle provided for family visits and any work-related travel.

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated General Interventionist (GI) to join our Early Intervention Services team in helping infants, toddlers, and their families build foundations for lifelong success. The GI provides Family Training, Counseling, and Home Visit (FTCHV) services to infants and toddlers (birth to age 3) with developmental delays or disabilities and their families, primarily in the child’s natural environment (home, daycare, or community settings. Using evidence-based and family-centered practices, the GI supports families in understanding their child’s developmental needs, enhancing development within daily routines and activities, participating in the evaluation process, and achieving outcomes identified in the Individualized Family Support Plan (IFSP).

Job Duties

Family Training, Counseling & Coaching

• Use evidence-based practices to support family capacity in enhancing their child’s development within daily routines and activities.
• Support families in understanding and communicating their child’s needs.
• Coach parents and caregivers on strategies to support their child’s development during everyday routines.
• Monitor child progress and modify intervention strategies as appropriate.

Developmental Evaluation & Assessment

• Conduct Multidisciplinary Development Evaluations (MDEs) to determine initial and ongoing Part C eligibility and/or identify present levels of development.
• Evaluate developmental functioning in the areas of: Cognition, Physical development (including vision and hearing), Communication, Social-emotional development, Adaptive development
• Review records related to the child’s current health status and medical history as part of the evaluation process.

Primary Service Provider Responsibilities

• Function as a Primary Service Provider (PSP) and serve as the liaison between families and other team members.
• Support the implementation of outcomes and objectives identified in the Individualized Family Support Plan (IFSP).
• Utilize coaching practices and collaborate with consultants representing identified areas of need.
• Coordinate with team members to support services that strengthen a family’s ability to promote their child’s learning and development.

Team Collaboration & Documentation

• Participate in IFSP meetings and other meetings regarding a child’s progress, including Family Support Team (FST), Joint Visit Planning (JVP), and Transition meetings.
• Maintain accurate documentation, reports, and records in compliance with Hawaiʻi Early Intervention program requirements.
• Collaborate with families and multidisciplinary team members regarding child development, progress, and service needs.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent.
• Ability to travel to families’ homes and community settings.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred

• Training or education in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Family Studies, Social Work, or a related field.
• Early childhood experience.
• Experience working with infants and toddlers with developmental delays or disabilities.
• Knowledge of family-centered practices and early childhood development.

Additional Information

• Hawaiʻi licensure is not required.

Pay: $19,000.00 – $78,000.00 per year
