Role Description
The role is responsible for designing and implementing fundraising strategies, identifying and engaging potential donors and partners, and maintaining relationships with philanthropic organizations and charities. Day-to-day tasks include preparing grant proposals and concept notes, drafting reports and fundraising communications, and coordinating events and campaigns to mobilize financial and in-kind resources. The officer will manage donor databases, track fundraising performance, ensure compliance with donor requirements, and collaborate with program teams to align resource mobilization efforts with organizational priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify funding opportunities from local and international donors, foundations, corporate partners, and grant-making organizations.
- Lead the development, writing, and submission of high-quality grant proposals, concept notes, and expressions of interest
- Support the Director in building and maintaining relationships with donors, development partners, corporate sponsors, and philanthropic organization
- Coordinate fundraising campaigns, events, and online giving initiatives.
- Maintain a funding opportunities database and monitor grant deadlines
- Collaborate with programme teams to develop project concepts and budgets.
- Prepare fundraising reports and monitor progress against resource mobilization targets
- Represent the organization at networking events and stakeholder engagement meetings where appropriate.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Development Studies, Social Sciences, or any other related field.
- Proven experience in fundraising, grant writing, business development, resource mobilization, or partnership development is an added advantage.
- Excellent proposal writing, communication, and presentation skills.
- Strong networking, negotiation, and relationship management abilities.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and online collaboration tools.
- Passion for environmental conservation and the mission of the organisation.
