Fund Development and Strategic Partner Specialist (Contracted Position)

Salary: $70,000, with opportunity for bonus upon performance

Position Summary

Junior Achievement of New Jersey (JANJ) seeks an experienced individual Fund Development professional to strengthen JANJ’s long-term sustainability as we continue expanding our impact statewide. This consultant will work closely with the President & CEO and EVP, utilizing currently identified prospects and research, and continuing to build upon this list, with the goal of increasing resources to support JANJ’s infrastructure that positions the organization for scalable growth, diversified revenue, and deeper alignment with New Jersey’s workforce and economic mobility priorities.

Key Responsibilities

Fundraising Strategy & Revenue Growth

· Conduct a comprehensive New Jersey market analysis to identify high‑potential corporate, foundation, high‑net‑worth, and community funding partners.

· Build and manage a qualified prospect pipeline of 40 – 50 companies, foundations, organizations and individuals.

· Map regional industries aligned with JANJ’s mission, including advanced manufacturing, healthcare, logistics, utilities, hospitality, life sciences, and skilled trades.

· Develop fundraising strategies tailored to New Jersey’s industries, communities, and workforce priorities.

· Support JANJ in increasing new philanthropic revenue attributable to expanded fundraising capacity.

· Develop a fundraising strategy to secure new corporate, foundation, and individual donors statewide and increase giving from existing partners.

Regional Engagement & Partnership Building

· Strengthen engagement with employers, chambers of commerce, civic leaders, and industry associations.

· Lead donor cultivation meetings, corporate engagement activities, and partnership‑building conversations.

· Expand volunteer and leadership involvement in donor cultivation and regional outreach.

· Create stewardship processes, engagement frameworks, and sustainability roadmaps that strengthen JANJ’s long‑term operational capacity.

Expected Deliverables

· Comprehensive New Jersey market analysis and prospect research report.

· Raise approximately $300,000 in new philanthropic support and increased contributions from existing donors in collaboration with JANJ leadership.

· Fully developed statewide engagement and sustainability strategy.

· Qualified prospect pipeline.

· Fundraising framework and revenue diversification plan.

Qualifications

· Three to five years of demonstrated expertise in nonprofit fundraising strategy, corporate engagement, or philanthropic development.

· Experience conducting market analysis and building prospect pipelines.

· Strong understanding of New Jersey’s economic landscape and workforce development ecosystem.

· Proven ability to develop and implement multi‑year sustainability or capacity‑building strategies.

· Exceptional communication, relationship‑building, and stakeholder engagement skills.

· Experience working with boards, volunteers, and cross‑sector partners.

· Ability to work independently, manage complex projects, and deliver measurable outcomes.

Impact of the Role

The consultant role will directly contribute to JANJ’s long‑term transformation by strengthening statewide visibility, expanding philanthropic partnerships, and building the infrastructure needed to support scalable student impact. The work completed during this two‑year engagement will position JANJ for sustained growth, diversified revenue, and a permanent, high‑functioning regional engagement model.

With demonstrated success, consideration may be given to transition from temporary into a full-time position.

Pay: $70,000.00 per year
