ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Job Summary: The Bookkeeper is responsible for managing Giving Grace’s day-to-day accounting and financial aspects, including audit activities and assistance with grant procurement/reporting. This position reports directly to the Finance Director. The role of Bookkeeper is continually evolving with the growth of the organization.
The position duties and responsibilities listed below describe the general nature and scope of work. Other responsibilities, duties, and skills may be required and assigned, as needed.
Job Responsibilities:
Maintain accounting systems and operations in accordance with GAAP.
Process and record accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring all payments and receipts are properly recorded.
Reconcile general ledger accounts and ensure accuracy of financial data.
Perform monthly bank account reconciliations.
Make bank deposits as needed.
Adhere to financial security and quality controls to ensure organizational integrity.
Monitor, track, and prepare reports for grants in compliance with the grant agreement and regulations.
Administer the payroll process, ensuring timely and accurate payroll distribution for employees.
Ensure compliance with payroll taxes, benefits, and deductions.
Manage the organization’s 401(k) program, including recordkeeping, reporting, and compliance with plan rules.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports for the Accounting Director and board of directors.
Assist in the preparation of annual financial statements and external audits
Assist with budgeting and forecasting, providing necessary financial data for analysis.
Work closely with the Accounting Director on special financial projects and initiatives as needed
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND BENEFITS
Qualification and Skills:
Bachelor’s in finance, Accounting, business, or relevant field or commensurate experience in the bookkeeping/accounting field.
Hands-on experience with accounting and financial management software. Knowledge of the accounting system, QuickBooks Online, is a plus.
