Join Our Team as a Lead Preschool Teacher at The Discovery Center!

At The Discovery Center, we’re a non-profit preschool and daycare where children embark on an exciting journey of learning through play. Proudly partnering with KCR4, we use the Creative Curriculum to help shape curious, confident, and capable little learners.

As a Lead Preschool Teacher, you’ll have the incredible opportunity to guide children ages 3 to 5 on their learning adventures. We’re looking for a passionate, dedicated educator who can bring joy and sensitivity to each child’s experience, fostering an environment where emotional maturity and safety come first. Your role will involve using your expertise to create a warm, nurturing, and stimulating space for growth—both intellectually and socially.

What You’ll Do:

Engage and Inspire: Interact with children in both one-on-one and small group settings, encouraging exploration and curiosity across all areas of development—sensory, fine motor, gross motor, cognitive, and play-based activities.
Build Strong Relationships: Cultivate positive, daily communication with parents, providing updates and insight into their child’s growth and achievements.
Promote Physical and Emotional Well-Being: Ensure a safe, responsive environment, meeting children’s physical needs like feeding, diapering, and rest, while carefully observing any symptoms of illness.
Bring Your Energy and Enthusiasm: Whether it’s lifting children up to 25 lbs, navigating stairs, or engaging in playful activities, you’ll keep up with the kids’ boundless energy!

Key Qualifications:

Education: A Bachelor’s degree, Associate’s degree, or Child Development Associate (CDA) Certificate.
Experience with Younger Children: Prior experience with children around 2 years, 9 months is a plus, as this role will focus on a younger age group.
Personal Qualities: Flexibility, patience, empathy, and strong communication skills are essential. You should be able to connect with both children and adults and thrive in a collaborative environment.
Physical Stamina: Agility to handle physical demands, including kneeling, sitting, and standing for extended periods, and lifting children as needed.

Bonus Perks: If your degree is in a different field, we’re happy to support you in earning your CDA Certificate!
