About the Position: NEWCS is seeking a Front Desk & Wildlife Hotline Associate to join our team at our Cape Cod location. This is a part-time position (3-4 days per week) that plays a vital role in our wildlife hospitals by managing a high-volume of calls from the public, animal control organizations, and partner agencies regarding wildlife issues across MA. The ideal candidate will be friendly, energetic, and flexible, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment where decisions can have high-stakes implications for both wildlife and public health.  Experience working in a wildlife hospital, veterinary setting, or a similar animal-related field is preferred. However, for the right applicant, we are open to considering other relevant experience.
Key Responsibilities:
• Answer and manage a high-volume wildlife hotline, providing guidance to callers regarding injured, orphaned, or sick wildlife.
• Interface with members of the public who bring animals to our hospitals and maintain medical records in a user-friendly database.
• Occasionally assist with education programs, community events, and participate in fundraising initiatives as needed
• Support and coordinate with volunteers and interns.
• Collect and record critical public health data, particularly regarding rabies exposure and other zoonotic diseases, to ensure the safety of people and pets.
• Provide clear, compassionate, and accurate information to callers, balancing wildlife conservation, public health concerns, and human-wildlife conflict resolution.
Qualifications:
• Prior experience working with wildlife in a hospital, veterinary, rehabilitation, or similar animal-related setting preferred. Preference for those who actively maintain or are willing to get a Massachusetts Rehabillitators license (training provided).Â
• Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing priorities.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately collect and manage public health data.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a team of veterinarians, rehabilitators, educators, and volunteers.
• Flexibility to assist with occasional education events, outreach programs, and weekend shifts as needed.
