Title: Founding Board Member – Nonprofit Formation & Strategy

Company: Operation WarriorFit

Location: United States

About Operation WarriorFit (OWF):

Operation WarriorFit is more than a race—it’s a mission. We are launching a nonprofit that empowers veterans, service members, and first responders by providing free or discounted race entries and fitness opportunities to support their mental and physical well-being. We believe in the healing power of movement, connection, and camaraderie—and we’re seeking a seasoned nonprofit professional to help us build our foundation.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Founding Board Member with expertise in nonprofit formation and compliance to join our startup team. This individual will play a mission-critical role in guiding the legal, structural, and operational setup of the organization while serving on the Board of Directors.

If you’ve started or helped lead a nonprofit before, understand the complexities of 501(c)(3) formation, and are passionate about giving back to those who serve, this is your chance to shape something meaningful from day one.

Key Responsibilities:

– Serve as a founding Board Member and assist with establishing the initial board governance structure.

– Lead the nonprofit formation process, including articles of incorporation, bylaws, and IRS 501(c)(3) application.

– Ensure federal and state compliance, guiding the organization through all necessary registrations and reporting.

– Advise on nonprofit policies, board development, recordkeeping, and ethical governance practices.

– Assist in shaping the organization’s operational model and long-term sustainability strategy.

– Provide ongoing oversight and guidance in your area of expertise as OWF grows.

– Act as a champion for OWF’s mission and help establish credibility and trust in the early stages of growth.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

– Has personally founded or helped launch a nonprofit (preferably with successful 501(c)(3) status).

– Deep understanding of nonprofit law, compliance, and governance.

– Passionate about serving the veteran, military, and first responder communities.

– Able to commit approximately 5–10 hours per month, especially in the first 6–12 months.

– Experience in law, nonprofit administration, or board governance preferred.

– North Carolina-based or familiar with state-specific filing requirements is a plus, but not required.

Why Join OWF?

– Make a lasting impact by building a mission-driven nonprofit from the ground up.

– Gain recognition as a founding board member helping shape our legal and operational foundation.

– Collaborate directly with a passionate veteran founder.

– Contribute to a cause that supports heroes through health, fitness, and community.
